A Time for Sunflowers!

Sunflowers - Thais call them thantawan - grow in central, northern and northeastern Thailand. This month's activity takes us to the sensational Lopburi fields. Each year, from November through January, with the best time being late November, the fields around Lopburi are filled with bright yellow sunflowers.

These are commercial crops raised for producing seeds and oil, yet they have become something of a tourist attraction. This is not mentioned in most guide books. The large fields of yellow and green flowers set against the surrounding steep limestone hills are quite striking.

We will travel by van to Lopburi to view the fields. During our visit, we will learn the history of the area, stop at the Pasak Chonlasit Dam, and then enjoy a local lunch. After lunch, we will stop at the Monkey Temple, Paperang Satu Yod, and return to the city by van.

DEADLINE to sign up and pay is Wednesday, November 25th (we need to know the numbers to confirm transportation)

The donation includes transportation & lunch.
