Chakri Memorial Day, AWC CLOSED

  • April 06, 2022
  • Thailand
Chakri Day (or the chosen substitution day) marks the anniversary of the founding of the present Chakri Dynasty of which the present ruling monarch, King Maha Vajiralongkorn, is the 10th King.

The Chakri Dynasty was founded by Rama I, who came to the throne on April 6, 1782.  His reign has been called a “reconstruction” of the Thai state and Thai culture. He was the monarch who established Bangkok as the capital of Thailand.

On Chakri Day, the Royal Family and the Thai people take part in wreath-laying ceremonies and making merit to pay respect to all the great kings who dedicated their lives to the betterment of their subjects.
