                     WALKING TOUR THONBURI

Join us as we explore the historic early city of Bangkok. As this tour takes place on a holiday, spouses are welcome!

The area of Thonburi around the west end of the Memorial Bridge (Saphan Phut in Thai) is actually one of the oldest settled areas of Bangkok. Back when Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam, this was the site of the main docks where ships from China and Europe would dock, and offload cargoes to be sent further up the river to Ayutthaya. The district was home to settlers from many countries, such as China and India, and later the Portuguese and other Europeans.

We will take the ferry to Memorial Bridge and walk across for our first stop, the Princess Mother Memorial Park, Kuan Ou Shrine, a canalside walk, Wat Prayoon, and Santa Cruz church Kun im Shrine. Guests may want to stop by the flower market near the Memorial Bridge before the trip home. We may have a lunch at another point on the river, depending on the wishes of the group. Please note that the price of the tour does NOT include lunch. Come prepared with water and good walking shoes.

Leader: Nancy, ndmorin@hotmail.com.

Deadline to sign up online and pay is Tues, February 15th.

Place: Meet at BTS Saphin Taksin, exit 1.
We will take the river taxi to Thonburi
