Come explore the Bangrak neighborhoods situated between the parallel streets of Sathorn, Silom and Surawong Roads in Central Bangkok.

We’ll start our walk from Chong Nonsi BTS station, heading first to take a look at the beautiful edifice of Luang Sathorn’s Mansion. Luan Sathorn was the first person to privately fund and construct a canal and road across his property back in 1890, thus giving Sathorn Road its name. Heading further into the Bangrak community, we’ll visit the landmark buildings of the British Club and the Neilson Hays Library, both
originating in the first quarter of the last century and with many wonderful stories to share.

As in many old Bangkok neighborhoods, Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim co-existed peaceably, as they do today. We’ll stop by Sri Maha Mariamman Temple and the Meera Suddin Mosque, still active testaments to a community living in harmony. Our final stop will be Silom Village, created from a 19th-century Thai-Chinese family compound, and home to a collection of small shops and boutiques.

Returning to Chong Nonsi BTS station, those free afterwards can stop in for lunch at the newly expanded Dean and Deluca cafe and gourmet eatery directly next to the station’s entrance.
